We did s STEM activity using spaghetti and marshmallows. The aim was to build a tall tower. It wasn't easy!

Check out our plants. Earlier this year we planted some seeds that we found in lunch boxes. We now have strawberries and peppers growing and we also have an apple tree!

We learned about sun safety and designed some posters.

Sports day!

We had our school tour to the National Sports Campus. We had a lot of fun!

Preparation for the Grand opening

We made recycled paper!

Last week we learned about recycling and decided to do some recycling of our own.

We tore up some scraps of paper that were no longer needed. We added the scraps to warm water and let it sit for a few hours. Then added cornflour.
We then strained the extra water out of the mixture using a sieve.
Next we flattened the mixture and allowed it to dry on tin foil.

They didn't all turn out so well but here are some examples of ones that did.

We have been learning about France in Third Class.

We use the chromebooks and our atlases to do some research on France.

We learned about the French artist George Seurat who used a pointilism technique in his artwork.
We used this technique to create the Eiffel Tower.

We used torches to investigate whether different materials were opaque, transparent or translucent.

We looked at reflections using a mirror.

We had a great first full week back to school.
We spent some time learning about heat. We used thermometers to measure the temperature of different location around the school.

We also carried out an experiment to see which material was the best for conducting heat.

Winter Decorations

Third class have been learning about charities which help elderly people and we wanted to do something to help.
We thought it would be nice to make some Winter decorations for the elderly people in the nursing home next to the school. It gave us a chance to practise our sewing skills too.

Stone Age Cave Art

We have been learning all about the Stone Age in third Class.
We looked at some examples of their cave art and tried to recreate them.
On winter solstice we watched a live stream from Newgrange - a burial place from the Stone Age- to see the sun light up the chamber. Unfortunately there wasn't enough sunlight coming though the clouds on Tuesday morning for the chamber to light up.
