We had a fantastic day last week on our school tour to Fort Lucan! We had great fun on The Pirate Ship, Helter Skelter, The Waterfall, The Raging River, The Adventure Playground and the go karts. We were so lucky to have lovely sunny weather for the whole day. Have a look at the photos below:
During term 2, we had been learning about Ireland during the 1800s. As part of our learning, we had learned about Georgian Dublin. We then did an art project where we created a room in a Georgian house in a box. We could choose whether to do a room in a rich person's house or in a tenement building. Everyone did a great job! Check out the photos below.
As part of National Tree Week, every class in the school had a tree planted for them. Our class tree is a Scotts Pine. Here is a photo of us with our class tree!
Martha's 3rd Class have chicks in their class, which have only hatched in the last few days. We got a chance to visit the class and see the baby chicks. We had to be really quiet so as not to frighten them. They were really cute! Yesterday, we had a very exciting afternoon! Two archaeologists came to visit the school with 'The Big Dig' workshop. The class got to learn about the work of an archaeologist and they got to ask lots of questions. They then got the opportunity to excavate a replica Viking house in a simulated archaeological dig. They had great fun and they found lots of interesting replica Viking artefacts. Today, three parents came in to do maths games with the class. We worked at stations and rotated to play all of the games. We really enjoyed playing them!
In history, we have been learning about Ireland in the 19th Century. As part of this, we have been learning about Georgian Dublin and the types of houses that people lived in. We learned that in the late 1700s and early 1800s, Georgian houses were homes for the wealthy. However, over time, these houses became tenement building where very poor people lived. Many families lived in one room. To link to our learning in history, we have started an art project where we design a room in a Georgian House. We can choose to create a room for a rich family or a poor family. We started the project last week and here are some photos to show how we are doing so far. Over the past month, Darren from Leinster Rugby has been coming in every Thursday to do rugby training with us. It was a great introduction to the sport and we played some fun rugby games. Here are some photos from our last lesson. |
