We had such a lovely afternoon in our classroom! We have been learning all about restorative practice during our Friendship Keeper lessons. Last week, we learned about love bombing which is when we can surprise people with little bursts of love and kindness. We planned a big love bomb for our teacher Andrea from second class. We prepared cards, messages and posters for her and then invited her to our classroom to surprise her with a big cheer and our gifts! Andrea had a lovely surprise and we really enjoyed spreading love to our community! We can't wait to spread more love and kindness in our community! Our Friendship Keeper mascot is the giraffe because the giraffe has the biggest heart of all the land animals and a long neck to see things from others' perspectives. Check out our mascots and giraffe drawings.

We have been working hard on some different projects in our classroom. During our art lessons, we have been working on creating some positive portraits using a cool tie dye effect from crepe paper. Check out the steps below if you want to try it at home. First, we drew pencil portraits of ourselves in the centre of a white piece of card and added positive words to describe our personalities. We also added some patterns around the words.Next, we went over the pencil with a dark crayon or coloured pencil and then we started putting strips of coloured tissue paper on top of the words and patterns. We sprayed the tissue with water to make it stick to the card. Finally, we waited until the crepe paper dried before removing it and were very happy with the results! The coloured paper had painted the pages for us in cool patterns! We have also been having great fun using the chromebooks in our class every Friday. We are learning to use Book Creator at the moment and are in the middle of writing short books about giants. We will keep you updated on our progress.
