We have been learning lots of Gaeilge poems and songs this year. Here are 4th Class reciting a poem called 'Mo Phóca' (translation below!)
Mo Phóca Cad atá agamsa i mo phóca? Dhá ubh agus subh agus feadóg. Milseán is luch bheag Agus úll agus frog Agus lámhainní beaga gan ordóg. Cad atá agamsa i mo phóca? Pictiúr agus cnaipe geal glé. Cnámh 's mirlín Agus cloigín bog binn A thug mo Mham domsa inné. My Pocket What do I have in my pocket? Two eggs and jam and a whistle. A sweet and a small mouse And an apple and a frog And small gloves without a thumb. What do I have in my pocket? A picture and a bright button. A bone and a marble And a sweet soft bell That my mum gave me yesterday. Last Tuesday, Judith from Biodiversity in Schools came to visit our class for a biodiversity workshop. We learned a lot about biodiversity in Ireland and we also explored some biodiversity on our school campus. It was really interesting and informative. Check out some photos below! Collaborative colouring project; spooky pictures; autumnal birch trees; Day of the Dead skeletons; rainy day pictures.
We created some lovely artwork this week using leaves. We used sponges and paint to get the outline of the leaf shapes and we also painted the leaves themselves to get the leaf pattern. Here are some photos of us busy at work!

We did s STEM activity using spaghetti and marshmallows. The aim was to build a tall tower. It wasn't easy! Check out our plants. Earlier this year we planted some seeds that we found in lunch boxes. We now have strawberries and peppers growing and we also have an apple tree! We learned about sun safety and designed some posters. Sports day! What a great day we had! We made ice-cream! It was delicious. Here is the link if you would like to make it at home. https://littlebinsforlittlehands.com/simple-homemade-ice-cream-in-a-bag-edible-science/ Our School tour. We had our school tour to the National Sports Campus. We had a lot of fun! Symmetry
We did some creative lessons to learn about symmetry. We made recycled paper! Last week we learned about recycling and decided to do some recycling of our own. We tore up some scraps of paper that were no longer needed. We added the scraps to warm water and let it sit for a few hours. Then added cornflour. We then strained the extra water out of the mixture using a sieve. Next we flattened the mixture and allowed it to dry on tin foil. They didn't all turn out so well but here are some examples of ones that did. |
